Taxpayer Day
One of the events demonstrating the necessity and effectiveness of dialogue between the public and private sectors is Taxpayer Day, observed on April 19.
Taxpayers play a crucial role in supporting the functioning of government and society by providing the necessary revenue to fund essential services, stimulate economic development, ensure social equity, maintain public infrastructure, and support government operations.
Each year, the day is also marked by a joint meeting-discussion organized by the RA State Revenue Committee and the SRC Training Center between taxpayers and Committee representatives. This year, participants included Armen Safaryan, Head of the Tax Inspectorate-Department of Current Control of Taxpayers; Zara Melkumova, Head of the Tax Administration Planning, Monitoring, and Control Department; Lernik Harutyunyan, Head of the Administration Methodology and Procedures Department; and Arman Mnatsakanyan, Head of the Legal Department.
The discussion was informative and comprehensive, aimed at fostering bilateral cooperation, as fiscal decisions are directed toward ensuring the fair distribution of the tax burden within society.
The diversity of taxpayers’ perspectives and experiences contributed to a more constructive discussion, covering topics such as the importance of transparency in tax policy, the impact of different tax systems on individuals and communities, improving the efficiency of tax administration systems, simplifying tax processes, and combating tax avoidance and evasion.
On this symbolic day, the SRC Training Center also expressed its gratitude to the participants of its courses, emphasizing the importance of long-term cooperation built on mutual trust.
By promoting open and informed discussions between taxpayers and SRC representatives, stakeholders can work together to develop fair, efficient, and sustainable tax policies that benefit society as a whole.
